Benz Rear Ended Day 1
My 99 CLK320 arrived last week by truck at 1030AM, the police report for the accident was taken at 630PM. Ruined the very 1st day. Has anyone else been in an accident? I have 22 pics of the damage if anyone wants to see it. I took it to the body shop referred by the other person's insurance company. The trunk floor is crumpled, the rear bumper is destroyed, the rear passenger quarter panel has two dented crumples, they say the motor mounts broke, you can see damage underneath the car and under the spare tire. They say it will cost around $5600. Sounds cheap to me. They are going to repair the bent muffler and quarter panel. Am I being had? It is a non Mercedes body, the kind that fixes everyhthing. We called a MB dealer and they said insuarance companies don't pay their higher rates, so I went the the insurance company shop.

Check with your state or local (since D.C. isn't a state) governing agency on insurance. In most states, you do have a deciding vote on where your car ends up being repaired. I've worked for MB for 15 years. This car looks like a lot more than just thaty amount of damage, If you even sustained damage in the front from a rear impact, the shock of the collision has probably wrinkled the frame as well as the sheet metal. Call a local dealer or 2 or 3 and see who they recommend for body work. The CLK is a nice car!
