new system help

i have a ford escape and am looking to install a new system. don't know much about subs or amps. any help would be appreciated. i have a budget of about 600 buks. i was thinking about 2 12" subs. no clue what head unit i want or what amp to get. i listen to my mp3 player in my car all most of the time so if there is a way i can hook it up to the head unit through aux inputs or something that would be great.

Re: new system help

600 will cover a good sub, amp, and a custom box. That is my suggestion. If you don't want a custom box, build your own. Don't buy a prefab box.

If you act now you can also afford a new headunit. I would look at alpine or pioneer. If you get this package, ask if they can send you a design of the box or something like that and get someone to do it for you. I can make a box for 200+ shipping.

Re: new system help

for head unit, i suggest anything by either sony or eclipse. they produce the best sound quality, even with stock component speakers. as for an amp, you should get one by rockford fosgate. i have an MTX amp and i do not suggest that, so stay clear of it. iono about subs tho...eclipse and JL audio subs are great subs, but they're expensive. if you want something loud, get kickers. they bump, but sound quality is lost. look at my sig and see what i have...that cost me around $1300 (and i got some hookups too). but it does sound great, so it was worth it.

sony sucks, and eclipse is out of your price range, i'd say a lower level alpine head unit would be good...

sony sucks, i think the best thing to do is to buy a head unit first, if you are buying a system the best is not to rush with what lil cash u have, start from a good head unit, you can't go wrong

buy a deck unti from sounddomain since they supply all the instal parts for free. then buy a QUALITY amp of of ebay, along weith some good subs, then build a sealed box or if your up to it a ported box. You will have saved a ton of money, I bought some open box infinietes, brand new for $35 shipped.

ppi is way batter than fosgate and kicker amps

kicker, fosgate, and alpine don't have the best quality subs, jl subs are good but overpriced...you could get some adire's or ed's or dayton's and there are many others...
