99 Regal LS power windows problem

Hi everyone,

All my power windows are not working. I replaced the switch assy (window lock switch was broken) and they still don't work. When I try to put the driver's window down, there is a screeching sound coming from the switch assy. All the other windows do nothing. Before this originally happened, I was having intermittent problems with the windows working at all. Any suggestions??? Thanks!!

My 99 Regal Windows also not working

I bought a new switch myself. But what it was a loose or warn hot wire in between the firewall and the door. I Took the rubber boot off and searched, but didn't see anything. The thing I did to find out it was the wires in the door jam was I wiggled them and they all worked. That's it.

Re: 99 Regal LS power windows problem

Thanks for the reply. I figured it out. Open ground somewhere, so I rewired the ground wire from the switch to a nut on the door. Still works!!!

I'm experiencing the same problem with the power window lock switch, it comes right out of its position in the panel. My other window switches work, just can't lock the windows from the grand children working them up and down.
It broke at the base of the pivot point under the panel. Where did you get the replacement switch and how hard is it to do the job yourself? Any special tools? How do you get the bezel panel off where the switch 'sits'? I did a little poking around with the Bezel panel and was not successful removing the cover panel, really tried not to break it.

Any help you folks can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Richard

You've probably already got this fixed; I just saw the post today. If not, I got a switch at gmpartsdirect.com for $53.14 including shipping. To replace it, just gently pry up the front of the whole assembly. A little plastic clip holds it in. Then move it forward to clear a tab that holds the back down. The switch pops out of the bezel and the wires uplug. It takes longer to explain it than it does to do it. Hope this helps, Roger
