Quick ? about PG7 ECU

I somehow found this when I was cleaning out my basement. I think it was my buddies cause it was still wraped up in bubble wrap and he bought one awhile back using my pc in my house so it got shipped to me I guess. Anyways, he has no use for it anymore. I heard before that people switch these ecu's with their stock D16A6 PM6 ecu. I have a d16a6 and a PM6 ecu. But I also heard that they can cause fuel flooding if you don't have enough mods. I have a exhaust(hollow cat. convert) and a intake and a few little things like spark plugs etc....Will this PG7 make any real difference if I put it in my crx? It's from a 89 integra i believe.

Lol, yeah but I dont want to put it in if it will mess everything up. Cause isn't it from the 88-89 DOHC Tegs? Just that I read on crxsi.com that people said puttin it in your d16a6 will have more aggressive fuel cruves but can also be bad if you do not have enough air for it. So like I have a intake/exhaust and a few other small things. Just wondering if anyone has tried it?

^Thats right. But the PM6 doesnt really run the car lean.I say just run it and see what you think. If you dont notice anything beneficial, stick with the PM6. It wont screw anything up.

Re: Quick ? about PG7 ECU

rich also means wallwashing... all the oil gets sprayed off the cylinder walls by all that fuel..

How does that make any sense considering oil is down in the crankcase and the only way it could get into the cylinder in the first place is if you have bad piston rings or worn valve seals. At which point running rich is the least of your worries.

As for the PG7 running rich in ZCs that is a myth. Think about it. The ZC is nearly the same engine as the A1 but it does flow much better. So if it can get more air why would it run more rich.

so you're saying the rings just have metal/metal contact with the cylinders??

and its not a myth...stand by the exhaust of any zc running on the pg7 and it reaks like gas...its still the best bet besides the zc ecu....but he's not even talking about running in a zc.. he's talking about the a6.

Re: Quick ? about PG7 ECU

i have the zc and the pg7 i run 93 gas and my car doesn't run rich unless i'm @ WOT but any car should do that... i enjoy the pg7 i have used all 3 ECU's in my car pg7, pm7 and pg6 they are all about the same except the pm7 bogs out at around 115 or so.. i say put the pg7 in your car you'll like it. a friend has it in his stock car he races in scca stock-E he enjoys it

Re: Quick ? about PG7 ECU

Uh...I think the PM7 is the ZC ECU - it has a governor in it at 112MPH.

Re: Quick ? about PG7 ECU

Suprisingly it runs great! It accelerates quicker. I drove it with the pg7 for a little and then put the pm6 back in and i noticed that it accelerates alot faster with the pg7. I guess I did have enough air to handle a little more fuel. It reaks like gas when I lay on it but thats probly due to my cat. converter being hollowed out.

That raspy sound can sometimes come from not having a resonator in the exhaust system...usually between the muffler and cat. I had mine removed when I had my custom exhaust built, and I like it. For a li'l rice burner it sounds pretty good.
