Question Power Window Problem

My driver's side window just dropped one day while driving into the door and won't come back up. I can hear the motor working when I press the switch to go up or down. I opened up the panel and jammed the window closed with a piece of wood because I couldn't find the problem due the limited amount of space. One garage quoted $500 to repair it. The $10 lumber is more my budget. Any suggestions or advise is appreciated!

Crazy enough the same thing happened to me Thursday. I was drivin' home, I heard a 'thunk', and my window just started sliding down (driver side, back window). So today we popped off the panel, looked at the inside, and I am lost. I've done this many times with my firebird...but this is beyond me. Any help will be greatly appreaciated before tomorrow. Tom. I will be taking it to the dealer for a quote on the fix.

(yr 2000, front passenger window doesn't work, driver window doesn't like to go up, and now this! Crazy thing, the back windows are hardly used, no kids, and usually only one person is in the car to even want to use the passenger windows)

Re: Power Window Problem

Let me know how you do with this. I won't open my panel until next weekend. So if I find
out anything I'll let you know.

Good Luck!

Re: Power Window Problem

I'm not into the technical words about this, but it sounds like the trolley that pulls and pushes the window up and down jumped the track. Pull the door panel off and take a look at it.

2000 Buick LeSabre Window Controller

The window assembly contains a continuous belt that raises and lowers the windows. I had to replace all four controllers with in 6 months at a shop cost of about $200 per controller. Not a hard job, but expensive!
