1/43rd scale version of chassis #011 - I'm in love!!

So I'm kinda bored right now and thought I'd take a look at the Japanese Yahoo Auctions site (using a web translator) to see if there are any unique McLaren F1 items for sale over there.

Look what I found...

It looks to be a product of Autobarn based on the box design/color and the base w/plaque. I'm in love and will simply have to have one as this is my favorite McLaren F1 by far. Wow! - that's all I can say right now...

For those who live under a rock, or simply aren't familiar with the actual car, here's some photos. It was auctioned through Christie's in England last summer for just under £600,000.

These first two shots are credited to 'tvrfreak' btw:

These came from the Christie's auction page:

And this shot from a website report on the auction - this one might be new for a few people here as I forgot to post it when I found it.

mini magic saw this car in person at the auction and has a few photos of his own that he's shared with us. Maybe he can share some more.

Hmmmm - I'm just realizing why it looked a little strange now that I have all the photos together....

It doesn't have the LM Kit front end!

That seems odd considering that all the other cars they have put out have been GTRs with the same front. Why go to the road car front end when this is clearly trying to imitate a car with the HDF Kit?

Anyway - I'll probably still get one, but I'm less enthused about it now...

Rather than start a new thread - I found this black F1 road car in another auction. It too looks to be from Autobarn. It's a shame I'm not wealthy enough to fill a shelf or two with all these 1/43rd scale F1s!

The base is labeled incorrectly as an F1 GTR, but I think they are saving money by reusing their standard plaques.

EDIT: Found another color - Dan Kennedy should buy this one.

Re: 1/43rd scale version of chassis #011 - I'm in love!!

He bought a 1:1 scale model...

I don't really see the appeal of having so many models of the same car...what do you do with them? They don't make very good toys. And they would clutter up a shelf if you put more than 3 on a shelf, I would think. So, all you guys who get these models, can you post some pics of what you do with them or how you display them?

Also, is there a remote control McLaren F1 toy/model anywhere? Or an F1 body that you could put on top of a fairly powerful remotely controlled chassis? That would be pretty cool, as long as it was superfast!

I posted this before, but here's my shelf of 1/18th scales:

There are both - there's some cheesey Tyco-like RC cars shaped like the longtail GTR and there are also 1/10th scale RC bodies that could fit over some really fast gas RCs. You can find both on Ebay if you're interested.

Thanks Peloton.

Such a beautiful colour at that time in the morning - it looks so different in sunlight. Definitely one of the better colour choices people have made.

Hi there,
I've been watching your forum for over a year now!
Decided to finally join you guys as you all seem very dedicated in what you're doing here!

I want to ask Peloton25 if he's checked his email lately?
I left you an email asking if you were interested in some cool stuff (you, I will allow posting it for me).
It's no big deal, but I think some of you guys will find it interesting!

Hi there Mclarenmaniac my friend (thought about the deal?)

Well let me know then Peloton25.

Best regards from Norway to you all,

Thorst.

Hello Thorst-
My apologies for not reply to your email sooner. I just found it in the "Junkmail" file of my inbox - it was automatically delivered there as seems to happen with a lot of the email I receive through Ebay. I also found two other emails in there that should not have been "junk" - one sent through this site and another sent from Ebay. I guess I need to check in there more often...

Anyway, I will reply shortly and welcome to our forum!

Thanks for the list Mike - Do you have any of these cars yourself or are you just a fan of miniatures? I have photos of all the ones you list except their silver road car. If you have a shot of it, can you forward it to me?

Hi Phil-
I'm not certain which photo you refer to as the 4th one, but I think you mean tvrfreak's pictures. To find the rest of them, follow this link:

http://www.tvrfreak.com/albums/trips...en/page_01.htm

If you are talking about a different photo, please let me know so I can help.

WOW!!! They all look gorgeous but I think the model of #11 is my favorite. Just wish it had the body kit, though.
