Re: Tire width.

It's like around 7 inches I think, if my math is right.

Re: Tire width.

Wheel widths are expressed in inches, so I suspect the 185mm is the tire width. However, the tire may have been placed on the narrowest possible wheel or the widest possible wheel.

What we need to answer your question is the year, make and model of your car. We can look that up and see what the vehicle came with - assuming the wheels are stock.

Re: Tire width.

CapriRacer is correct, we would need to know what kind of car this is to determine what size tire you can go up to.

no im not asking the max width of the wheel, im asking the max width of the tire on the wheel that came with my car. its a 185/60/14. i need to know if i can put up to a 195, 205, etc. tire. i have room for a max wheel size of 210 i know that already, but thats not what im asking.
im trying to squeeze the most potential out of my stock rims.

Re: Tire width.

Alphalanos,

We understand what you are asking. But the wheel width is going to limit what the maximum tire width can be.

There are 2 ways to get the wheel width - Read it off the wheel, or read it out of a book that lists the year, make, and model of your car.

Supplying us with the tire size - 185/60R14 - only tells us that the wheel COULD be from 5" to 6 1/2", assumimg this is the original tire size for the vehicle.

BTW, there might be some clearance problems, so the vehicle again is important.

Hope this helps.

Re: Tire width.

Without knowing the actual wheel size, we can't tell how wide of a tire will even seat on the bead area of the rim. Knowing the vehicle make, model, and year will also let us know how big you can go before you get into the suspension side or out into the fenders.

Re: Tire width.

The wheel size should be in inches, like 14"x6" or 14x6.5, etc. The larger numbers, like 185/60/14 is the tire size. The 185mm is the tread width, the 60mm is the sidewall from the wheel to the outermost part of the tire, and the 14" is the wheel diameter
