CJ7 Ignition cuts out - please help!

My '83 CJ7 developed a weird ignition fault. When I turn the key, it fires up right away but, as soon as I release the key, it dies instantly. I've replaced the column-mounted ignition switch, but the problem's still there!
Any advice will be gratefully accepted.

Try a new ignition module. Looks like a Ford module. Any module will work to test but make sure you have the correct replacement for permenant fix or it will cause engine damage. You should find it located on the drivers side fender near the firewall.

Thanks for the reply. I immediately got down to yanking out the ignition module and 'lo - the power wire had broken off right up against the module housing. Too many years of shake, rattle 'n roll I guess.
Your diagnosis was dead on.

Many thanks
Ray

Glad I could be of help. Usually those things get flaky when the temps start to change out side. Sometimes shocking it with some cold water helps. In your case a broken wire will do it too. Jeep On!
