2001 battery replacement & programming

Hello,

As infor, I just replace my battery, Radio asking for code. Dealer says to unsitall radio and get serial number, then he can give me the code. Now owners manual of course! Bloody hassle!

Also need someone to tell me what the programming steps are to get idle back to normal. Dealer gave me a four step process but it doesn't seem to be working. Anyone here familiar with the programming method he was talking about?

Here it is:

Let engine idle at 2500 to 3000 RMP for a "few" minutes with AC and everything running.

The let idle down. Put foot on brake and put into reverse. Back up a bit. Everything should be OK.

Well, it's not. Did he leave a step out?

Re: 2001 battery replacement & programming

i was told if disconnect battery power for a while everything resets to defaults. looks like it takes good .5 hour for it to take an effect.

yeah, radio code is generated based on the serial number, so you'll have to get the serial off of the radio give it to dealer and proof of ownership of the vehicle, only then they will get you the code for the radio
