1993 Ford Ranger Fuel Pump Problem

I have a 1993 Ford Ranger 2.3L 4 Cylinder and the fuel pump will not run unless I run a jumper wire from the harness that connects to the top of the fuel tank, to the battery. I have looked everything over that I can possibly think of and still can't figure out what the problem is. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

had the same problem on a 86,check the wire harness under the cab mine rubbed through the loom and the the power wire {pink} re solder and shrink tube runs great
