Anyone anticipate the return of the Eclipse GSX?

I've been thinking that with the redesign of the Eclipse coming up, Mitsubishi might bring back the GSX trim. AWD turbo cars are really popular right now, and Mitsubishi needs something to compete with the basic WRX. Anyone agree?

Not only to compete with the wrx, but to bring them out of the situation they are in right now! (chrysler) However, they need to bring back not only the gsx trim but the 2g body-style too! =D

Isn't that exactly why Mitsubishi brought over the Evo's.

Re: Anyone anticipate the return of the Eclipse GSX?

The 4g concept is AWD.. but then again, why do they need 2 lines of AWD turbo cars, when the company isn't doing that good? Can you say, Evolution?

Re: Anyone anticipate the return of the Eclipse GSX?

Remember that the EVO is competition for an STi, cheapo WRX's don't count I only see a few of each here, but I'd say STi's outnumber EVO's a bit.

^^^^they do....but more and more people are realizing that wrx suck, and the evo owns em (i tell people everyday, everyone has 1 at my skewl, fuckin ricers). If they brought back a turbo eclipse awd or w/e they'd loose sale on evo, prices will ofcourse be different, the eclipse could be pricy, but people might take evo cuz of 4 doors, looks, its a waist of one of the cars, w/e. There are many reason's why they probably WONT release another t-awd eclipse. Im over this car...and im sick of awd (breaking shit). lol. i dunno wuts next...ill let everyone know wut i have in mind...

Re: Anyone anticipate the return of the Eclipse GSX?

I agree with WAGON.... way to many "rally inspired" WRX's around but the funny thing is....when was the last time you saw some rich yuppy drifting around any corner while heading up to the grocery store or sumpthin....WRX was meant to be on DIRT. ECLIPSE is meant to be eating up the asphalt...and as for the EVO's... I find my GS-T to be way more comfortable and thats with stock seats not the ricaro's that the EVO 8 had...(I just got to sit in it and start it...no test drive)
Well down to it I think mitsu should bring back the GSX and think something close the the 2gen body style would rock.... 3gen started lookin a little ug-o if ya know what I mean.....

Re: Anyone anticipate the return of the Eclipse GSX?

i wouldnt of minded the 3g body style if it wernt for all those dammed lines down the side.. it the sides of the nose and the doors.. i cant stand em.. as for the gsx i think its a must... turbo awd is the eclipse legacy... and i dunt know what they were smoking when they changed it the first time. i wouldnt mind seeing some sort of twin setup on the v6 with awd.. but that sounds too much like a 300z and supra.. and dammit its funner watching them loose to a 4 banger... haha so i say mitsubishi plz grow a brain and bring back the eclipse's that got the dsm following started.

Re: Anyone anticipate the return of the Eclipse GSX?

The thing I really don't like about the 3g eclipses are the tail lights. Also, the car itself just doesn't seem to have the smooth, flowing look of the 2g eclipses.

Re: Anyone anticipate the return of the Eclipse GSX?

The Evo is out of the WRX's price range, and is more suitable to compete with the STi. Eclipse returning to AWD turbo would help the car's sales a whole lot IMO, while providing Mitsubishi with good competition for the WRX.

The reason they DON'T make the turbo AWD is because it's a bad investment. It's already been decided that there is no market for certain kind of cars, and no, they will not try again for fun.

Re: Anyone anticipate the return of the Eclipse GSX?

the eclipse since 2000 has been dead ,and its getting worse, the new 4th generation have AWD but there fucking HYBRIDS. Front wheels diven by a 4cylinder and the rear driven by eletric and that is GAY.

Re: Anyone anticipate the return of the Eclipse GSX?

Sorry to dissapoint you, but cars are going to be slower, and there will be more hybrids and electric cars in the future. On the good side, the 4g eclipse is a concept, and it most likely won't be AWD or hybrid.
