Turbo question

Would this be a good turbo for a H23 engine. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...477065081&rd=1
I was thinking of getting a rebuilt turbo just because they are a little bit cheaper and i wont be running that much boost. If this is a bad turbo, please explain or if going w/ the rebuilt is bad also, explain. I dont know much about all the sizing numbers, just that i want an A/R around .65. I remember seeing that was good

Looks like a straight T4 to me, you don't want it. It also has an exhaust A/R ratio of 1.00. You would want something that is a .63 A/R T3 housing.

The T4 housing is much, much larger than a T3 housing. Larger wheels, usually larger A/R ratios, and you need a different turbo manifold. A T3 is quite a bit bigger than a T25, and a typical T04E is a lot bigger than a T25.

Re: Turbo question

so theres a difference between a T4 and a T04? Does the sizing go T25, then T3 then T4, so its like a number thing? but 25 is 2.5...

Re: Turbo question

What about this one

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...478344676&rd=1

Do you want the larger, T4, to be the exhaust side or the compressor side?

Re: Turbo question

It looks like that one has the larger exhaust side, that wont spool up as quick. I know turbonetics makes their t3/t4s w/ a larger compressor side and the exhaust side is smaller.

Re: Turbo question

don't bother with those turbos. Do the research on that Those turbos have been known to crap out a lot. A buddy of mine baught one and within a couple weeks the seals were shot and leaked oil. Do yourself a favor and just get a good new turbo or a good used turbo that you know has good quality behind the name.
