Im Tired Of Hearing Bad Exhaust Advice...
Okay, this is what I want but I need brand reccomendations... If you suggest Magnaflow I'm going to shoot you-
I'll be getting Skunk2 headers, 2.75 inch downpiping, high-flow cat, 3.75 inch tubing, stock resonater, and muffler. What cat should I get and what muffler? Apexi N1 muffler looks like a good one right? ATTN: Catbacks don't make much sense unless you just want good sound and looks. $600 for 4 HP gain is cr_p! F_ck Greddy, ok? Get some custom tubing from Jose down the street. |

Re: Im Tired Of Hearing Bad Exhaust Advice...
Ok, you need to relax there buddy. Are you going to be supercharged? That 3.75" tubing will kill your backpressure and your power if you do not have F.I.
From what I am seeing, Skunk2 does not make headers for the 3G. And it seems very odd to me that you want a 3.75" cat and either 2.75" from the cat-back or still 3.75". So you know, the stock 2.5" tubing is good enough for the stock exhaust, which is why people only gain 4-5whp. And for you to go in a larger diamter to 2.75", then get a 3.75" cat and tubing, to 2.5" resonators to 3.75" tubing to 2.5" resonator to 3.75" tubing to 2.5" muffler seems a little out of place to me. That will actually make you lose horsepower. Look at it this way: --- is your 2.75" tubing, === is your 3.75" tubing Header(2.75")---DP(2.75")---cat(3.75")===Resonator (2.5")===resonator (2.5")===muffler (2.5"). See how many neck downs and wide openings there are? that will kill your velocity and allow you to lose power. If you insist on running such a large exhaust (my Dodge 318ci engine ran a 3" exhaust, you certainly do not need a 3.75" exhaust) get the Quicktime electric cutout in a 3" diamter. It wil save you all that hassle and money spent on your custom exhaust and give you open headers (basically) APEX'i N1 is a good as well as HKS. Magnaflow also makes a good MUFFLER as well as GReddy, and Injen makes their SES cat-back. For a cat, Random Technologies makes one, but the largest they have available is 3", not your 3.75". V8 5.7L only run 3" NA, so your 3.0L certainly does not need that exhaust diamter. Cat-backs on NA cars such as ours only make 4-5whp because we are NA. If the 3G was a turbo car and you said F* the cat-back, I would be telling you to stop smoking the crack. But it's not so I won't. |

Re: Re: Im Tired Of Hearing Bad Exhaust Advice...
HAHA, my bad.. I meant 2.75 inch tubing and yes, hopefully in 5-6 months i'll have enough saved up for the RIPPMODS supercharger. As for Skunk2, I just got a thing in the mail saying they offer it. HKS hugh, I havent looked into them before for a muffler. I check it out... Also thanks for the name on the CAT, I didn't know where to start on that one.

Re: Im Tired Of Hearing Bad Exhaust Advice...
I will pm them to you.
FYI, I called Skunk2, and they are not making headers for the 3G, just an exhaust cat-back like everyone else. |

Re: Im Tired Of Hearing Bad Exhaust Advice...
Hmm... since skunk doesn't have headers for this car, who should I go with? I have heard of RPW and OBX so far...
I really want to take advantage of as much HP gain as I can when doing the exhaust/headers. It seems this mod project will be the biggest in HP gains until I supercharge. Correct me if I mistaken... With headers, there is no downpiping? What is needed then between the CAT and headers? Just the same 2 1/2 or 2 3/4 tubing that im running from the cat back? Also, should I use 2 3/4 inch tubing now since I'm supercharging later? Also, what do you think of the APEX'I Air/Fuel regulator? Necessary for aftermarket headers to maximize HP potential? Sorry bout' all the questions... http://www.apexi-usa.com/electronics_safc.asp Thanks, Ken |

Re: Im Tired Of Hearing Bad Exhaust Advice...
About the headers, try looking for hy-techs(best) or AMSS. SO far i heard best about those 2. I heard ripp got headers for GT's 2

Re: Im Tired Of Hearing Bad Exhaust Advice...
Just wait for the DC sport headers to come out within the next month or so and make sure you have AEM intake to match, go with magna flow exhaust and a four inch tip, supercharge it with performance internals, falken racing tires and AEM pullies and cranks, short shifter, and you will kick the shit out of many many many 4 cyls. Almost all of them,

Re: Im Tired Of Hearing Bad Exhaust Advice...
Why buy the AEM intake when you are going to Supercharge?
And I hope he should beat the 4 cyl's as he has the V6. And unless he plans on running more than 14psi on the SDS, he will not need to forged internals. The SDS comes running 11 psi and a water/meth injection kit and puts down almost 300whp (between 285whp and 299whp). And with the Hytech's, you will most defintely be over the 300whp mark. |

Re: Im Tired Of Hearing Bad Exhaust Advice...
Got the intake because I couldn't buy the supercharger right away. I need some power in the meantime! Besides I could resell an AEM intake for almost full price quick status.
