99 Blazer 2WD humming noise sounds like small motor

I just drove my wifes blazer 2WD and I noticed a humming/small motor sound coming from it. My kids tell me its been doing it for looong time.
I did some searching in here but it seems that most of the posts I found pertained to 4WD. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=151059

Anyway heres what I can tell about it.

The noise sounds like a small motor at high rpms gets faster as road speed increases. (Its not high pitched -sounds like a 4cyl with a big tail pipe) I'm sure it is coming from the front I almost feel it in the steering wheel.

I can coast downhill in netural from a stop and still get the sound.

If I turn to right real quick it will quit until I turn back to center or left.
Turning left has no affect.

I have checked for heat on the wheels and I dont find anything unusually hot.

I tried to hang my head out but cannot hear anything because of wind noise.

Tires look ok. I don't see excessive wear.

I dont find any evidence of rubbing anywhere from the hood to the rear-end.

Thanks in advance for any help.

wheel bearings.....100% sure its wheel bearings, if it quits when you turn right, then its probably the wheel bearing on the left side

Hey thanks for your reply. I would have thought if the wheelbearings were making that kind of sound that there would be some excessive heat. They probably arent that hard to replace so I can try it and see.

thanks again for your reply

Unhappy

Turns out that it was a hub assembly on the front left side.
