Replace Fuel Filter & Main Line - 95 Tercel

Hi,

I am replacing the fuel filter and main line on a 95 Toyota Tercel. The main fuel line is being replaced because the integrated bolt attached to the fuel filter is stripped and can no longer be removed from the filter. At the vehicle rear end, I have successfully loosened that integrated bolt using flare nut wrenches.

Problem is that as I continue to loosen, the bolt binds. I have continued to work it back and forth as well as sprayed Liquid Wrench on it. It is very slow going, and I am beginning to doubt that I can get it off. If I do, there is still a question of whether the female end of that line will still be in a good enough condition to accept the new fuel line and be leak free.

Any suggestions on removing the existing fuel line? Should I remove the line upstream from this main fuel line--it looks to be a flexible hose but I do not know where it leads to? Greatly appreciate any insights. Thanks!

Steven

Update

Hi,

I went into Tracy Toyota and the technician was extremely helpful. Binding of the main fuel line on either end is normal when loosening. He recommended I just wrench it through, which I did. Flare nut wrenches are a must. No damage was done to the threads or bolt. Installed the new fuel line and filter. Car is running perfectly!

Thanks Tracy Toyota!

Steven
