hi, guys. So nice to find the family for I30. The third brake light on the rear spoiler doesn't work. I just wonder if anyone has the experience on replacing one? I think I can't find any place to order a replacement LED. Replacing the whole spoiler means too much for a poor graduate student. Anybody can help me out? Thanks alot. And if u happen to have one and feel willing to sell, please email me @ [email protected], i'll check it frequently.

Fdus,
It's a common problem - my '96 i30t LED brake light went out too. It's much cheaper to just fix the light bar. I used a "z" type phillips screwdriver to get it out of the spoiler, disconnect the wire, then pry the red lens away from the black plastic carefully with a knife or flathead screwdriver. You'll see the LED lights on the board with several "resistors" spaced evenly across the bottom and one for where the power comes into. Usually the resistor where the power comes into goes bad and burns up. I've heard of replacing it with a 1/4 watt 280 ohm resistor to keep the specs but I just put a jumper wire in place of it and it works fine. Test it out before super-glueing the lens back together and re-attatching it to the spoiler. Hope this helps ya. |
