Question 1 wheel drive?

I have a friend who has a '97 V6 Mustang, and he claims that he has one wheel drive. (I believe it's the right rear). I told him he is full of s**t, but I don't know anything about Mustangs. Am I wrong or is he an idiot?

Well hopefully he's just pulling your chain. Otherwise, yeah, he's an idiot.

Re: 1 wheel drive?

I think mustangs do not have lsd... so maybe your friend did a burnout and only one wheel was spinning due to open differential and so he thought that his Mustang was 1 wheel drive... someone correct me if i'm wrong...

Re: 1 wheel drive?

he probably thinks it's 1 wheel drive b/c in his V6 he doesn't have posi or limited-slip so it will only burn 1 tire when he tries to powerbrake it so yea he's an idiot... unless he's just missing the left axle so it will only run 1 tire but otherwise considering all is well in the rear end... it's probably b/c he can only do a burnout with 1 tire

I was going to suggest that it was a possible open differential cause I didn't think v6's came with traction-loc. I could very well be wrong though.

yes because the is very little friction in teh air

it only matters really in a skid situation , or burnout

ok problem solved...your friend was trying to be a smart ass b/c only one of his wheels does a burnout. and he was going to bet you. he gives mustang owners a bad name.

Re: 1 wheel drive?

that would be correct. if you want to earn some money place a bet. then jack his car up like i said before and tell him to hit the gas.

technically, now that i think about it, if only one wheel was to spin then the car would drift to the side, its like rowing a boat but only rowing on one side.

That's what I told him. I said he would do circles if he was right. Thanks for all the input, now I can print this up and shove it in his face.
