Unhappy car shut off and didn't start until the next day

It's my first time in here but I have witnessed some nice info that people have given others; so I'm hoping for the same results. Yesterday on the way home from work on the freeway after about 15 min. of traffic my caddy just quit. After pulling over and trying to restart it I had no success it did however attempt to start but then stumbled for a second or two and then no luck after that. I had it towed to the house and retried to start it and no luck again. The next day ( this morning) I tried and the car started right away. I need any advice on what to maybe check first. I haven't had a chance to check anything yet but I will this weekend with the help of you great guys!( I'm not referring to my starter it works fine the engine is the culprit

would the ground cable that you are referring to make the car cut off? I never heard of that but I don't know everything either. lol

Thanks for the response mrike3. It turned out to be the ignition module. Thank god it wasn't the valves. lol
Anyways I'll be back in here when I experience some problems with the caddy.:-)
