Question Firing Order/tune up problems

I have an 86 Buick Century which has the 2.8 V6 2bbl engine. It has about 51,000 miles on it now (original). We bought it a year ago and most of what we've needed to do is simply just age related stuff. Like, what we did recently is mostly just that. The spark plug wires were getting stiff and needed to be replaced. So we did the spark plugs, cap and rotor, and wires all at the same time. My husband was very careful to put the wires on exactly as they were before and then the silly thing won't start. We look up the firing order (thinking maybe it was wrong) in the manual and they show an order of 1-2-3-4-5-6 which seems kind of weird since they're normally not in a pretty numerical order like that.

Can someone (perhaps using a shop manual or a Chilton's) can verify or correct that firing order?

We can't figure out what else is wrong with it. It was all working great before.

Thanks

Trish

Re: Firing Order/tune up problems

that probably is correct, as the order for the 3.8 V6 is 3-4-5-6-1-2.

the 660v6 does not share expected cylinder numberings

as you face the car the 'rear' of the motor from left to right is 1-3-5 and the front from left to right is 2-4-6

1-2-3-4-5-6 is correct for most if not all of the 660's
