They are crap. And read through all of their feedback, not just the ones posted on the ad.

Re: cheap (26.95) mod chip in ebay check it out?

IMO, there is exactly ONE programmer/chip for a Ford product that is worth a damn. Goto http://www.modulardepot.com/index.php?cPath=21 for SuperChip Custom Tuing. Read the forums, you'll not see one dissatisfied customer, not one. The folks at "SCT" are the BEST. I've known the tuner for over 4 years, he can tune ANY ford product, and he does NOT boast, make false of misleading claims, or "sell" his product. Results and word of mouth (PC) speak for themselves. He personally tunes over 5,000 Ford products a year, and has been doing that for a long time. He does more dyno runs in a year than most operators will EVER do. He know what works, and he knows how to change ANY parameter in an EEC, and more importantly WHY it needs to be changed and what else itwill affect.

There are "tooners" and a "Tuner". IMO, if it's not SCT, it a toon.

I agree with ModMech. There are 3 or 4 different chips under the Superchip name. Go with SCT specifically.

Re: cheap (26.95) mod chip in ebay check it out?

The Diablo Performance Chip is a division/subsidiary of Super Chips Inc and is a very powerful chip from what I know and have heard about it. However, my problem is that it's 'supposedly' 50 state legal, but local shop guys have told me it's not in CA because of C.A.R.B. and I won't pass smog (I'd still like to get it tho).

Unfortunately, on a whim I bought the Z-1 performance chip from eBay for like $18.00, and when I saw it I knew I got ripped off. The sticker emblem was OBVIOUSLY a PC made print out that was stuck to it with glue and when I cracked the case open it was 2 wires, red + black, running through a $.02 resister and requries you to splice through wires connecting to and from the MAF (a very bad idea if you don't know what you are doing). The instructions were cheap Word doc print outs as well, and from the feedback I got from others who bought it, they all said it doesn't do shit. It's "supposed" to interrupt signal from MAF to EEC telling it more air is getting in than really there and change spark curve or some bullshit, but it doesn't do that either. Just stay away from it, PERIOD. If you email them they will tell all about what it's supposed to do (they just don't tell you how or why), and claim all kinds of 'vigorous testing/analyzing onthe dyno', blah, blah, blah . . . my question is how do you vigorously test two wires and a resistor you can buy at RadioShack???

Live and Learn I guess. Chalk it up to experience.

Re: cheap (26.95) mod chip in ebay check it out?

All those crappy little resistors do is fool the ECM into thinking the car is breathing 52*(I think thats the temp, something close to it anyway) air and the computer adjusts to it. At that temp the air charge is supposedly optimal under actual conditions and that is when a car is supposed to run the best. That little resistor fools the ECM into thinking just that and richens the air/fuel mixture and advances timing. You can normally get about the same performance improvement under normal conditions if you just remove the air box from inside the fender well and let the engine breath a little easier.
