Angry 1997 grandam rough idle then battery light??

My 97 grandam started running rough today. When accelerating it seems OK. When idleing however it runs real rough. On my way back from lunch the battery light went on. Im not too sure if this is related but this will be the 4th alternator that I will replace in 3 years. The other 3 times the alternator went I never had this idle problem and when this idle problem started there was no battery light on. Any ideas what might be causing my problems.

The battery has never been changed. When I replace the alternator, everything runs fine... for a while.. until the alternator dies again.
