1993 Ranger fuel problem
My son has been trying to keep his ranger going, has put in 3 fuel pumps in 3 years. A few weeks ago when he put another in, the truck did fine for about 1 week, the first thing I noticed was when I put gas in it, I couldn't run it in at a normal speed, had to put it in really slow and it leaked out a small amount under the truck (while filling). About 40 miles later, it was humping down the road, died, and wouldn't restart. I welcome any suggestions. Thanks

Re: 1993 Ranger fuel problem
There may be a clog somewhere in the fuel system. How long has the fuel filter been changed? That's all I can think of.

Thanks for the response. He changed the fuel filter at the time he changed the pump, about 6 days before it quit moving fuel.

i have a 93 ranger manual. is his truck stick too? anyhow every time i put gas in my truck, and fill it up all the way it spills out on the bottom and i still cannot find where it is coming from but the best thing i can think of is the place where the neck(i dont really know what its called) but the tube that connects the tank to the place where u put the gas hose, right there i think there might be a gap or its broken,
here is my thread from a while ago that i asked some question in their answers might be able to help you out http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=134085 thats all i could find but i hope it helps |

Re: 1993 Ranger fuel problem
the only thing i can tell you to do about your leak is to check the fill tubes(rubber hoses) from gas cap to tank.replacing three pumps and removing the tank three times might have not got them connected good or they are worn out.

Check the fuel filter connector lines. Check the seals around the gas tank, hoses, and the lines for any abrasions, cracks, or small rips. Flush everything. As stated before, there might be a clog in the line somewhere???
Tell your son to get a hold of some black light leak tester. "" Forget the real name of the liquid"" Two ways of testing. Spray on the lines directly or place some into the tank directly. With the light search for any bubbles or leaks, which would or could be visible with the light. DO NOT POUR ANYTHING into the tank, unless you have the right stuff. My friend used it on his car, but I wish I could rememeber the product. Check out : http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/index.php They should have some answers, if not he just might have to go to a dealer. http://members.cardomain.com/12311974 |
