car hesitates off the line

ok i have a honda civic lx. when i pin the gas it like stalls or hesitates for a second and then goes. what the hell causes this to happen. its bugging the hell out of me. if you know how to fix this it would be a great help. oh yea its an automatic if that helps. i don't want people telling me i need to get a manual becuase i already know this and plan to in the future.

Re: car hesitates off the line

I had the same problem with my lude, the first thing i did was change the spark plugs, wires, and distributor cap. Also use a higher octane gas. One other thing to note, does the car lag or hesistate when the weather is hot, or both? You can also try using a product called Z-Max. Ive seen some hondas that do the same thing, they hesistate off the line, once you punch the car hard then its ok
