K&N, Injen, or Apexi?

I have a 96SE and was wondering what other people's opinions were on what kind of intake to get. I like the looks of Frankencar's intake with the Apexi, but have not heard anyone's opinion. I am trying to keep my car fairly quiet also

Re: K&N, Injen, or Apexi?

any aftermarket intake will make the car louder...when i had a grand prix i put just a Ractive intake heat shield filter on it on the factory intake tubing n it waz quite a bit louder...then i put a 3A racing Exhaust on it n it waz loud n low rumble...sounded like a v8

Re: K&N, Injen, or Apexi?

lemme rephrase that...whenever you put a aftermarket intake in in place of the factory air box the engine will be louder, because the sound isn't muffled by the factory airbox anymore

Re: K&N, Injen, or Apexi?

i have have the injen but im still not convinced the filter is not sucking in hot air opposed to the frankencar and filter.

the injen looks so dang good under the hood, but its a flip of the coin really. and like i3o2matt was saying you better expect some rumble but its only going to be there when you open her up, WOT !

thats a good thing to me, makes the driving so much more enjoyable. anyways i believe the gains are all going to be close from each setup so just factor in whats important to you.

im also suspicous of the injen intake (even though i love it) combined with a few other things i think it can possible aid in engine ping working in concert with (on my car) upgraded ecu, and my carbon filled egr valve and hoses.

Re: K&N, Injen, or Apexi?

My GAB sounds better than the majority of intakes and it is free, plus on the dynos on the org it produced more hp with less bottom end torque loss than any other intake.

Do all intakes make more noise? I don't mind it being louder than stock, but I hate that "civic/crx" whine I hear so often. A deeper sound I may actually like.

Re: K&N, Injen, or Apexi?

ur not gonna get the civic/crx sound because maximas are v6s n da civics (both sedan n crx) are 4Cs...v6s just sound deeper anyway with whatever you do
