Re: BLOCKING 2g emission controlls

The EGR crap may be preventing some performance, and a cat definately is... that's a given. What other emissions stuff do you mean? EVAP and stuff don't affect anything but may get removed when the engine bay is ridden of weight/extra parts. What's the site? taboospeedshop?

Re: BLOCKING 2g emission controlls

the cats the only thing worth bothering with IMO messing with the egr can cause idle problems and 2g63's have enough of them already PA has emissions testing anyway so i need to have it all there and at least looks functional

Re: BLOCKING 2g emission controlls

I say the EGR is worth messing with If you would have seen the carbon build up in my intake manifold you would hate the EGR also

Re: BLOCKING 2g emission controlls

Not sure about the 1g, but im sure it close to the 2g egr setup. The carbon in the TB could possibly be from that.

The egr "exhaust gas recirculator" takes (dirty) exhaust gasses and puts them back into your intake. It is used to make cars efficient. Now we all know that exhaust gasses are hot, now do you really want that back in your engine. Now wheres the point to a CAI when you have it being heated up.

Now I did lose some MPG, and did not feel a difference but I know that my intake is clean and COLD

Re: BLOCKING 2g emission controlls

if you didnt feel a diff performance wise and you lost mpg its seems bad to me. not to put mpg over performance but gas gets more expensive every day. cant stay around to talk though i g2g ill check back later to see what you say

Re: BLOCKING 2g emission controlls

Well it was around 1 mpg. So like 10-15 miles for the tank for me. Yea gas is getting expensive, 1.95 for regular here .

Just because I did not feel anything, does not mean there was not one. However, if there was it was probally like around 2-3 hp. The carbon would block airflow, and the colder air definatly would help.
I guess it is mostly a personal opinion for everyone, I said fuck the egr and got rid of it
