Angry wont shift without help

95 2500 diesel automatic worked fine. Got in and wont shift out of park. Broke first cable, replaced and still wont shift without some help from underneath. Column works fine without cable hooked up. Any suggestions?

Re: wont shift without help

You may be able to shift out of park while turning the key to the on position and then just start it in neutral. The brake transmission shift interlock is probably shot
