Oil Change questions
Had an interesting day getting my oil changed today. I have noticed that, if I don't change the oil every 4 (at least) months in my 2002 Jetta, the valves start clicking and, when I make a sharp turn, the oil light goes off and I get the three beeps. I keep meaning to get it looked at, but I have just one year left on this lease, so I just put it off and get the oil changed.
When I went to the first place, a JiffyLube (I think), I was met at the parking lot by one of the staff who told me that their company will no longer service Volkswagens. He told me it was a new company-wide policy, and apologized. I thought "well, that's odd", and as I pulled away, I saw that they were closing in the next 10 minutes. Has anyone heard this before? Was I sold a bill of goods because he didn't want to take anymore cars for the day? When I went to the second place, a Swifty Lube or something, the guy starting my oil change asked me to step out and explained that the oil stick was registering no oil, and that it might help if I got a 12.99 engine flush, as the oil gets clogged up in this engine a lot. I explained the problems I'd been having with the car running out of oil and said that, the next time it did it, I was having it looked at. He told me it would help to get the engine flushed, and it would do no good to take it in to have it looked at--these V2 engines just burn through oil. He said he's seen it dozens of times, that he has one regular that gets her oil changed every 2500 miles, and the dipstick in her car never registers oil. Can someone tell me if he, too, is selling me a bill of goods? Is there something really wrong with this car/engine, or should I just continue to get it changed every 3000 miles and not worry about it? Thanks in advance. |

Re: Oil Change questions
Get your car looked at if you are losing all your oil within 4000 miles

Re: Oil Change questions
search posts for jettas losing oil. You may have a burner. Flushing will not help.
