sr20det good for???

How much power can i make with the sr20det while still being RELIABLE. This is going to be a daily driver. Im curous 'cuz im not going to have enough money for rb25det (until later, if i need more power) and 400-450hp is good fer me.

I'm not sure I can settle for 400-450. I mean really thats only like 225hp per litter.

Re: sr20det good for???

Here's an idea. Why don't you NOT work on getting your sr20 to even over 300 at all and instead SAVE up for the rb?

you don't have the money for an rb, so you're not gonna have the money for getting an sr20 even to 300hp let alone 400hp and being reliable. i dun know about everyone else here, but a 400hp 240sx is not a car I'd use for daily driving.

if you want 450 horse power really cheap in your 240, rather than swap an SR I would just pick up 3 KA's and bolt them on top of each other. You can get KA's really cheap for like $250.
Hey btw this might require some fabrication. I'm sure some one already has done it though.

Any one have pics of the (3)KA24 swap?

Re: Re: Re: sr20det good for???

omg these newbies lack expierence.. a 400hp cars is mutha freaking fast.. its really not to streetable.. shit my boy has a 250hp turbo 240sx and he drives off boost most of the time, the car is freakin mean on 8psi making 250hp@wheels man i got a ride in a sti and that pined me in my seat.. you people need to realize how much hp realy is..

if you need to ask about having a 400hp car you really shouldn't get one..

no back on topic.. sr20det bottom end can take 400hp but you need damm good fmu and great supporting mods, to do it daily driven its a different story.. i say 250-300whp is good for daily driven car to be safe n realiable.. also for 400 hp u need to trash that shitty t-25 or t-28 and get something bigger and alsot re-work the head..

I currently own a 374hp talon awd, t04e<<<<<smokeurass. THere are plenty of 900hp cars. Ive ridden in a 700 hp supra. If you actually READ my post, I didnt ask about having a 400hp car...i asked if the sr20 could handle it, so i dont have to go fer rb25. ANYWAY...

being a newbie and coming in here calling other people asses is not a good idea. do it again, and you're taking a vacation.

400hp is alot. if you "can't afford" an RB25DET, then you won't be able to afford a 400hp SR (like someone else said). an SR plus all the parts to make it hit 400hp will cost way more then an RB25DET by itself.

learn something before you post like you know everything.

lol dude why dont you just build up the bottom end of your ka and turbo charge it with that stage 2 kit from I think fmax is it? That be the best way to get that much power. And man idk about you but I got done test driving a 600hp RX-7 and the FD's and 240's basically have the same weight same suspension etc. and uh dude you dont need tha tmuch damn power as a daily driver lol. thats like a damn 12 second car itleast buy a ka and build it up man there cheap easy to upgrade and hell if the engine blows Buy another lol. RB's and SR20's are cool but I mean come on you dont have the money for a RB and you want that much power? your gonna blow the motor any how, and to ask man you need to learn a few things. Any 2.5 liter and down needs some reinforcement to hold 300+ hp in my opinion. I just wouldnt feel comfortable having 400hp on a stock bottom end SR. And to get that high just need a turbo upgrade from the SR and fuel blah blah mainly just bigger and stronger shit. and idk shit about RB's so *shrugs*

Re: sr20det good for???

you think a 700 hp turbo is fast, try a 600 hp N/A V8. KA-T for a budget-minded person who wants something for a daily driver/weekend racer. SR in my mind is a waste of time for less displacement. Read the FAQ and a custom turbo kit can be made for $1000. Spend a little more for a nice kit with a T3/T4 and upgraded fuel system. A rebuild for the KA is around 1500-2000 if you do it yourself. That is 3500 which is about how much a SR20 swap costs and the KA is up to about 250hp depending on what size turbo you get and how much boost you are running.

Christ, you guys act like 400 horses is something mindblowing. I daily drive a NA LT-1 that makes about 500 to the wheels. It's not difficult, unrelilable, or a hassle. It's fuckin awesome.
