Haynes makes a great manual for the MPV of that vintage. I have used mine to replace the timing belt and it was worth it. You can buy at most auto parts stores for about $17.

Remove the shroud around the fan, rad, and anything else thats in your way, remove the 2 pulleys, and the tensioner at the lower left hand side of the timing assembly. Belt will come right off. Compress the tensioner in a vice or press, insert small allen key into hole in tensioner and through pin, reinstall belt, pull pin, and put cover back on. It's actually not bad getting the timing belt in and tensioned.

The tensioner is preloaded with grease, so don't soak it in anything. If it's loose or binding, just replace the thing. Will save you a lot of headaches.

The gasket kit for the timing cover, which is plastic, probably won't fit at all, (haven't had much luck myself). We just dab it every couple of inches with silicon and it holds it well. Pretty much all of the bolts holding the timing cover on are different, so mark em with a paint marker where they go to avoid headaches.

good luck.
