VLSD from a 240sx or j30, which is better?
The person who is going to sell me a VLSD and install it in said he just got a j30 (was going to sell me a 95 240sx one) and said which one do I want. He recommended the j30 b/c its gearing is better for SRs but I have a KA and will stay KA. So which VLSD is better? from another 240sx or j30??

they both are exactly the same but the J30 uses different output flanges for the axels, hence uses a diff type of axel that accepts that flange. They are the same as far as strength just the J30 differential has a differen't pinion gear to change the final drive ratio.

Yea so since the ratio's are different, I heard that the j30's VLSD in a 240 makes it slower at launch but faster mid-range RPM?

How much does the gearing differ? On a stock 90' Ka24E
1st gear redline ~32mph 2nd gear redline ~55mph 3rd gear redline uh.. what is it? 75ish? If I put in a j30 or something how much would that effect the topspeed/gear? I kinda want a new diff..

^ SR has different gearing, supposedly the j30's final drive ratio fits better with SRs. But I have a KA...

the j30 will make a stock 240 a little slower, not even sure if its noticable, but it will result in a higher top speed... much better for a turbo motor, i'm getting one to mate to the rb25.

Got a J30 LSD in my garage, the out put flanges are exactly the same, I know cuz I switched the diffs before I sell the J30.
The J30 Vlsd is a 3.9 gear ratio and the 240 is a 4.08, the difference is so small. If you are going up with the power go with a TT ZX LSD it is 3.61 but you need to be putting somewhere around 350hp to really need that, public137 is right it will slow you down if you don't have the power.
