Drive Cycle to reset OBD (1996 3000GT SL)
I own a 96 3000GT SL. It just failed emissions tests (in Georgia) because the OBD computer was not ready. I've called around and I'm getting different opinions on how to complete the required drive cycle to reset the OBD computer. I've been told:
(1) Drive it for a week. (2) Drive it for 60 miles and take it back to the emissions tester wihout ever turning off the car. (3) Drive at 35 mph for ? minutes, then 45 mph for ? minutes then 55 mph for ? minutes. but he wasn't sure of the minutes required. (4) Go to a Mitsu dealership and pay then $70.00 to take the car through it's proper drive cycle and then drive straight to the emissions tester w/o turning the car off. (5) See technical bulletin 00313005 which tells the proper drive cycle. (I've also been referred to bulletins 00-13-005,03-17-005,03--13-005,02-13-005,00-13-005) Any idea how to get ahold of these? Lot's of opinions but no straight answers . . any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! |

Re: Drive Cycle to reset OBD (1996 3000GT SL)
I don't know why it was not ready. I have not had any service performed on it in months and the battery is fine. I have read that there may be a glitch that causes the '96 3000GT to lose all OBD information when the ignition is turned off. So once I figure out how to perform the appropriate drive cycle to reset the OBD I will drive straight to the emission tester and not turn the car off.
