How is this setup?

hey guys i want to know what you all think right about this setut, after saving lots a grip of $ i'll almost have enough to get these

$500 1 15 RE XXX
$275 Hifonics Brutus 1500D
$150 custom ported box, tuned to 30hz with like 4 or 5cf

good? bad? any suggestions, also because of the high cost of the XXX i might go with something smaller, like an SE or HC 12, well plz gimme some insight thx

Re: How is this setup?

WAY too high for the box

Build your own man, the specs and design schematics are right there on RE's site, it's really not hard.

wow, that's incredible ....... he made NO mention of anything but subs and sub amp. My main concern is always the frequencies above 100 Hz,

Re: How is this setup?

some people don't care about sound quality I guess

of course if he doesn't care about sound quality I don't know why he's getting a XXX, but whatever

actually on this thread im only asking if the subwoofer/sub amp/box is ok, and what is too high? yea i know there are specs on the website, but i've heard other people with specs similar to the ones i posted, it sounded pretty good, at first i was thinking of two alpine type R 12's, but then after i heard the XXX and the .hc i think i changed my mind, i dont need it to hit inside anymore, i dont like it when i get a headache after like 15 minutes of music, and i also don't know any other alternatives subwoofers there are to get
well anyways im thinking of between 1000-1500 watts into one sub
and im either going to get
1 15 RE .hc 1200rms
or
1 15 RE XXX 1600rms
i think the box is really important, but i do not know much about how the specs of the box make it sound better/worse i would be glad if someone gave a small explanation, im saving up alot for this, i've already messed up on my audio so many times, wasting money/time i dont want to mess up again, o yea, whats the diff between sq and sql? if sql stands for sound quality level, then how does a sq setup differ from a sql setup? well reguardless of which way i go, i want to hear that 1000+ watts, and hopefully not waste money thx

and do u guys know where i can buy mdf to make the box? im trying to get into this stuff, my mind is still pretty blank when it comes to car audio

No no
The price for the box is too high, I was saying you could build your own and if you didn't know what dimensions to make it, RE has blueprints on their site that you can follow to a T if you like.

lol thank you, i was about to repost making myself look so stupid comparing frequencies n stuff lol, yea and im still deciding, i was really hellbent on 2 12's in a ported box, but lets say..
i have 2 12's in a ported box, then i have 1 15 in a ported box, both getting the same wattage (500rms each for the 12's 1000 for the 15) what would it sound like from outside my car? im also really interested in showing it off to my friends and making myself heard from like a block away wouldn't hurt for a lil.. well more simply put which one sounds louder from the outside? thx

Re: How is this setup?

I'm not sure, I don't compare things based on how loud it is outside my car. I have ~1100 watts in my car, and I can hit 140dB, and from 10ft away with my windows up you can't hear a thing.

Think about this, the more people that hear it, the more people that know you have something valuable, and the higher the chance that it will be stolen.

well seriously speaking when i turn into anywhere within 2-3 blocks of my house, i turn down my system, to the point that it really doesn't sound like i have any music on, and today i help my friend turn his subwoofer box around n some wiring, n amp mounting... like when he was 3 houses away, i already heard his bass, and i have a long driveway that goes up, he is using a subzoneusa box with 2 12 kicker CVRs and they sound decent from the outside, and it was obvious he had a system, but for mines right now, i have 2 sony p5's in a sealed box, it hits ok inside the car, but outside the car, you can't really hear anything, i guess its because its a sealed box, and the bass is really tight, even on the songs like salt shaker n other songs with that kind of bass, the bass sucks, but im either going for 1 15, or 2 12s, i just found out that re stopped making the .hc sub, and they are making a sx sub now, so im probably going to get either one 15 XXX or 2 12 sx, using the same 1500rms from the brutus amp, and of course sooner or later i'll buy or try to make a customized box, and seriously speaking when i was in my friends car with a 12 .hc running 1000 watts, it didnt' hit (inside) as hard as my friends 2 cvr's

so most likely i'll be getting a high wattage 15 thx
