95 Rodeo Won't Start

Was running just fine, then it sort of chugged home and now it won't start. It cranks and tries to start but to no avail. Have checked the fuel pump and that seems to be fine. Anyone have any suggestions as to what might be the problem. Thanks in advance as daughter needs her transportation back asap....

Unhappy

How bout the alternator? Maybe the battery has enough spark to assist in turning, but not enough power from the alternator to actually start.

When my last alternator and battery croked on this rodeo; the alt went first, WHILE I was doing 65mph on the interstate. Darned truck kept going just fine, however it lightly chugged for a short few seconds - that's when I immediately looked at the fuel gage, thinking I had run it low.

Suddenly a few idiot lights let me know it was losing charge, once I saw that I knew what it was; as both the battery & alternator were more then due for replacement.

On my 1st Rodeo, a V6, '91, it ran on a serpentine belt, rather then the 3 driving belts.

When it's 2nd alternator went, there was no warning. I heard a snap, smelt burning rubber and front of truck was smokin, thank goodness I was only going 30mph as she was dead in the water - no power at all. She chugged for a matter of seconds as I was trying to finish pulling her off the road.

hey i had a similar problem, i have a 1992 rodeo i was low on fuel and parked it, i tried to start it later and it wouldnt, all the stuff from the bottom of my tank clogged my fuel filter, i replaced the fuel filter and my spark plugs, then had to crank it a few times in order for the fuel to make its way back up to the engine....hope this helps
