Weak starter on my 2001 T/A?

I'm wondering if this is normal:

When I go to start up my T/A after it has been off for, say, at least an hour, it starts up with a nice, intimidating, sounding roar. But if I shut her off, and then start her up again shortly thereafter (say .. after refilling the gas tank ... so maybe 10 minutes) the start up isn't nearly as impressive; i.e. it's very weak sounding. Is this normal behavior or is there something wrong with my starter? BTW, she was like this since I bought her (used) from CarMax back in November 2003 (with 17k miles).

Ever checked your battery? try that first...Autozone usually will take care of that for you. It would be easier to buy/change a battery then a starter
