I have a new set of IMRCs comming from Five Star and am wondering if I can do this install myself ? Do I need to take the alternator off ? If so, how do I take the tension off the belt ? Thanx for any help.

I just replaced my IMRC on my contour last week. It didnt survive the 3 foot drop.
Anyways, if its the 3.0L duratec engine, its probably pretty close to mine. Its pretty straight forward, just kinda hard to get your hands in the right position. Getting the old one off is the hard part. Its clipped on the secondary latch as well as a support bracket. The support bracket is the one thats difficult since its designed pretty much to go on and never come off. Youll have to squeeze the clip together and push it up from the bottom so it slides out. The clip in the secondary latch is fairly simple. When reinstalling the new one, I found its easier to install the secondary latch first and then the support bracket clip. And of course, bolt back down to the cam cover, plug in connectors, etc.
