best Launch RPM?

Hi,

I jus got an 89 Integra LS with the D16A1 DOHC 118hp engine.
I raced a friend of mines FOcus with i/H/E and he completly took my car by like 4 cars.
Anyways, I know I wont win even if i race again.
But, i launched at 2500RPM because my friend who drives a modded GST says thats what he launches at.
This other kid I know said he can launch low like that cause of his Boost.
But for my Acura I would need to launch at like 4000 RPM he said cause thats where i make my torque.
What do you guys think?

There are waaayy to many variables to even begin to know where your paticular car should be launching at. I'm talking clutch grip, tires, the ground, all that kinda stuff. Because basically you are gonna wanna take off fast with little to no wheel spin and not bogg the motor down at the same time. If I were you I would just go someplace and practice taking off and see what is the best for you. I know you will more than likely want to have your rpm's higher that 2,500.

yep. there are to many variables for there to be just a majic rpm number. If there was launching would be cake. Just go someplace and practice, and get a feel for your car.

I would second what scallywag says. Go and practice to know where your car is at its best. Your should be able to feel the torque, If you don't wanna practice launch at 5500. Works for me.

i couldnt say , its like when i am lined up , i kinda just know where to hold the rpm's at ... its just a feeling or somethin , but it always works ...i raced a friend of mine , he came outta no where and lined up next to me at a light while i was messin with a cd , so i quickly lifted the rpm's to about 4 grand and got em ... just practice i guess

I'll launch at about 3500 or so... about 4000 + and I loose to much grip.
