battery draining out on s10

ok, here's the deal. my 1991 S10 2.8 v-6 has not been able to start after replacing alternator and battery, somehow, the juice on my truck is being drained, and i have no idea what to do about this. i charge the battery up, and go out it will start and run like a champ, but after 2 or 3 days, the battery's dead again. i don't know what to do, the starter shouldn't be the problem, should it? someone took an old screwdriver to it once and said that if it sparks, it's good, i dunno much about this fixing stuff, which is why i'm asking all you brilliant-minded people here.

so. . .any ideas?

Had exactly your same problem with my '95 ZR2, after a new battery and alternator. It turned out to be the starter. No problems since replacement. I must have been used to the sound of a bad starter, as this new one sounds a lot different. I was told by the wrench, that a bad starter can drain your battery. Jacking up the motor and tranny to get at the starter was more than I was up to, so after having it towed to the shop, analyzer diaganosis and replacement, the bill was about $400. Good luck

Hey, I appreciate that reply RKING, thanks. I was wondering if anyone here had this same problem, I'm so glad I found this site. I will get this looked at as soon as I can, don't have the 400$ right now ( ty for that info, too. . .good to know what to expect ) maybe get one of my buddy's to do it for me cheaper. either way, i'll get back here when i can to let everyone know how that goes. . .

Re: battery draining out on s10

That $400+ price was the book estimate from a Chevy dealership. It only took them a little over an hour. The tow charge was $60 (I do have insurance for that), analyze was $89. That leaves about $250 for a job they did in one hour. If it had taken them all day, the price would have been the same. It only took an hour because they had an intern helping, so actually two people on that job. When I crawled under to look at it, I could see the starter, but sure couldn't get at it without a lot messing around, plus I would have been laying on my back to do it. No thanks.
