1998 Maxima or 2002ish Maxima Vs. 2000 Grand Prix GTP 240hp 285 TQ
Hi,
i was wandering if a stock maxima can beat a stock Grand Prix GTP? GTP's have 240hp 280 Torqe. Sounds like the GP would win. What do you think? Anyone encountered a GTP on the road? |

I beat an older GTP in my Maxima. I think it had like 240 hp. They are really heavy cars. I'm not sure about the new ones though.

What year is yours? is it auto? The 02 Maxima top Manual says in Car review 6.7-6.9 0-60 and the GTP says 6.7 so I bet it must of been a close race. What type of Hop-ups do you have? Thanks...

0 to 60 on 6 speed Maximas are 6.0 so that would beat a GP.
I think a auto 02 Maxima would beat a GP too. It might be close though.

My friend has a GTP, and I have never lost to him(I'm a 6 speed 2k3). An auto would basically be a wash. That 6.7-6.9 is for a pre 2k2 Max for sure. A 2k2/3 6 speed shouldn't lose to a GTP

Sounds like a Manual has the GTP beat stock for stock, most certain in the 2002/3. However, an auto would probably be a drivers race more than anything. Thrasher, is your Max stock? Looks like a pimp ride from the pic!

Yeah, it's pretty much stock. I have tint now, and I am just waiting for my rear valence to come, then I will have my kit on.

I tell you what, you better make him pop his hood and take a look at his pulley and make sure that it is the stock one because if he has the smaller pulley and the chip plus an exhaust system, then you are going to be toast unless you're driving a Cobra or something.
With minimal mods like I listed he easily go to 340hp and it's good night Maxima, unless you're SC'd/Turbo'd/N20. They have a lightining quick take off, so don't be surprised if he takes you off the line but by about 35 or so you should run him down and walk him past 125 and beyond, that is if he is stock.
