Its just the engine out of the car...the really painful hard part (removing the ****ing thing) has been done already. As for the overhaul, unless you're doing a complete rebuild then just check all the standard performance engine hotspots (gaskets, plugs, cracked boost hoses etc). I don't know what you're are planning but unless you are a full out mechanic you DO NOT want to do any of the work yourself. The VG30 is a very high tech, complicated piece of equipment, the turbo about 100 times more so. I pulled the engine out of mine myself and now I'm lookin for a good shop to put my new one in because it will probably be worth the extra money and having someone to blame it on if the motor quits 18 miles down the road like this one did. Only get into this project if you have LOTS of money on tap, Zs burn it faster then they burn that 92 octane (16 psi of boost is expensive in all sorts of ways, foremost the destruction of your engine but gas is a bitch too). Parts can be hard to find and Nissan charges an arm, a leg and most of your soul for them. These cars are too common to be collector, too expensive to be drivable, the NAs aren't as bad but they can cost you big too. Once your Z starts having problems, sell it quick and find another one.
