2001 pathfinder electrical problem

the speedometer, rmp gauge, temperature control and gas gauge do not work also, indicator showing which mode the 4 wheel drive is in is not working. any ideas as to what can be done to fix this problem. car is operating fine, no shift problems or engine hesitation. No red light on dash showing.
mileage 37000 with no other problems.

Re: 2001 pathfinder electrical problem

i know this post is from may - but i was just browsing and found that i had a similiar problem. i brought my 2001pf into nissan and they concluded that the main board for the electronics was the problem. it wasn't covered under warranty and was a $700 fix (which i didn't fix)

mine started with fast blinking turn signals, then graduated to the gas and speed light going outand sometimes, although rarely, coming back on.

Re: Re: 2001 pathfinder electrical problem

You said that yours started with fast blinking turn signals-did they start out only fast blinking sometimes? Mine has started doing this-both left and right-blinker will start blinking really fast and there is a weird noise coming from the instrument panel..and then gradually, the blinkers start blinking normally again..sound familiar? If so, it sounds like I'm on my way to trouble!

Re: Re: 2001 pathfinder electrical problem

yeah the signals were first - fast blinking both left and right - then it would go back to normal. eventually the light on the speed and gas went out for 99% of the time. the signals haven't acted up in a long time (year or more). it annoys me that it's notdeemed as a manufacturers defect when i'm obviously not the only one with the problem - i even have the extended warranty.

And here I was kicking myself that I hadn't bought the extended warranty! Thanks for replying, now I won't freak out and wonder what's going on if more lights go out....

Re: Re: Re: Re: 2001 pathfinder electrical problem

I don't know if this is the same problem, but... my dash had all lights on, gas gauge and speedo and odometer did not work, truck was only 2 years old. Nissan replaced Instrument cluster for me under warranty, but I noticed that the Instrument cluster was a little different than the original. I think this should be a recall. I have heard that this has happened to others... a mechanic friend that works at Nissan told me.
