86 camaro motor?

i just bought a 86 camaro with a 2.8 and it had a missfire.
i brought it to a local repair facility and he told me i had a bend valve he concluded by telling me it's not worth fixing and said if i wanted to he could remove the valves on that cylinder and it would make it run better.
i told him to go ahead and i picked it up last monday and it misses worse than it did.
what is wrong with the car????
