Those mustangs are not quick they are about high 14s. What year of Camaro are you talking about? We are talking about a straight line right? Well, if you are talking about a real z28 like a 98+ your mitsubishi better be faster then its stock high 15s 1/4 mile. A LOT FASTER!

Gt mustangs running 14's....LOL.

Maybe with a decent amount of work into them like cam, headers, cobra head, cobra throttle body, etc...

SL's RUN 15 flat -14.9 with a good driver stock so a 97 down stang is possible but those z28's or ss run... away...fast.

Re: 3000gtSL slightly modded vs 91-98 Mustang GT vs Camaro Z28

OK first off the Mustangs that you are quoting are way off time wise. The fox body was around since 84 I believe, and it ran into 1993. In 1993-1998 they had the same body style, but some different engines (5.0 briefly, massaged 5.0 Cobra, 4.6 SOHC, and the DOHC Cobra). If it is a 93-98 GT, it is relatively slow unless modded (Not ripping on you mustang guys, but stock at LACR and Speedway those cars are in almost everybody's rearview mirrors). With a stick and a really good driver they will see a 15 sec. flat 1/4 mile time (I'm not talking from mustang monthly where they use drag radials and remove the air silencer). What year of Camaro are you talking about? If it has the 305 motor blow him away, and tell him to stop investing money in that engine If it's a 350/346 you are gonna have some serious problems. You can always rely on driver error though. Those F bodies are hard to launch. Good luck, and keep us posted.

hey you guys i think the Camaro will come in first and then the 3000gt and last the Mustang GT. if it was a new mustang gt then it would be a whole different story. thats what i think we'll see.

i say camaro then mustang gt then 3kgt. depending on the year since we weren't informed properly.

and btw sl's are not known for running 15 flat, there normal time is more like 15.4. with a superb driver they can get 15 flat and even break into the 14's

I'm with youngvr4 on this one, camero, then mustang, then SL. The mid 90s mustangs run lower times than the SL typically. Together it could be a drivers race, but typically the stang would take the SL.

First, the fox body started in 1979, the 79-86 5.0's were pretty much dogs... An 87-93 5.0 5spd lx should see mid to low 14's....any year 87 or newer 350 z-28 will also be faster... seeing mid to low 14's...depending on the condition of the cars, so looks like the sl looses.

79-93 are fox-bodies. 94-98 are sn-95 chassis. 94-95 had 5.0L engines rated at 215 horsepower. 96-98 had 4.6L rated same, then had 225 in i think 98.
So, 91-93 GT times would be 14.5-14.8 mostly on 5-speeds.
the Z28 are 13.80's to 14.20's from 93-97 w/ the 6 speeds.
Dont know about the 3000.
P.S.- I wouldnt say TOO much about 86 GT mustangs being dogs. My friends turned a 14.30 once at the track with his, and it was stock except for exhaust (mufflers and cats).

Re: 3000gtSL slightly modded vs 91-98 Mustang GT vs Camaro Z28

oops my bad. I stand to be corrected. They were started in 1979 as stated previously. The fox bodied one's are pretty quick (Although I have a laundry list of kills on them w/ the LS1 and former Z28 :d ).
