Question Pacesetter Headers?

I have had some suggestions to get a pair of pacesetter headers and they have a damn good price. Why are they so cheap compared to others such as slp, hooker, jba etc? and should i get a Y pipe along with the headers? and what is the difference between offroad and normal y pipes cause i only can find off road y pipes for the pacesetter headers.

I run pacesetters. They work great! I would opt for the Ceramic coating on the headers, it will help a lot against heat/corrosion/etc. My Ypipe is painted(which is how the headers will come if you do not get them ceramic coated. if you do go with painted, sand blast off the paint and go to autozone and get the 1500 degree paint and paint both the inside and outside of the headers(along with the ypipe).

I bought my headers from Texas Speed and Performance. It came with a ypipe, O2 simulators(for the rear 02s), O2 sensor extenders(for the front O2 sensors) as well as new gaskets(I reused the MLS gaskets that are stock...and yes, they are reuseable) and bolts.

Only thing about these headers, are you have to cut about 1/4" off your Kmember to keep the header on the driver side from hitting.

I put them on my car myself...and they are an easy install. Passenger side slide right in(couldn't do that with FLP,SLP or Macs). Drivers side, you have to unhook your steering shaft(takes a whole 3 minutes from unhooking the shaft, slidding the header up and rehooking up the shaft) Its either that or your oil filter...sooo...I felt it was a good trade off. Install is really easy, just a little time consuming.

Only bad thing about the ypipe(its freakin' huge...3") is
1. Make sure you take it to a muffler shop to fit up the left and right sides. Mine did not come flanged out on the right side so it would not slide over for an easy fit.
2. You might have to have it heated up and bent slightly if you do not like it tapping the floor under a "bogged" takeoff.

Other then that, for the price of the pacesetters you can't beat them.

Call Robert at 405 721 2430 for pricing and ordering.

It is an offroad Ypipe and it will not pass emissions on the visual or tailpipe test. On the computer check, As long as you have the O2 sims, it will.

Would northern DE be ok, say Newark?? I might have a friend who may be willing to do the install for you, I would have to call him though. Not sure what he would charge. AIM me sometime.

I am putting a set of carsound cats on my car, not for emissions, but to quiet the car down. Its pretty damn loud and I want to try to keep the 'sleeper' status.

As far as labor, I'll see if I can't call Dan tomorrow(today?) and see if he could do it for you. I might need your phone number and name to call you if you agree to it? ok. Let me know if this is acceptable. If he can't, I'll let you know and I'll try to ask around for a good shop.

I talked to my friend Dan. He said whenever you want to do it, let me know and the 2 of you will work out a day/time.

I have an LS1 engine(98 TA )

With a slipping stock clutch on 6# of boost(old pullies) in Texas heat(high 90s/low 100s) I ran a 12.9@112 with just the blower and a muffler(stock programming, running an FMU to boost fuel pressure).

I ran at Atco NJ(I hate that track) back in September 03 with the same setup and ran a 12.7@115 spinning through 1st and going 45* sideways on the 1-2 shift. what fun. But it would have been a nice low 12 second pass if I could have got traction and not gone silly on 1-2 shift.

Its ok though. I am waiting to get VCM Edit via HPtuners so I can program the car on the street with a wideband O2 sensor.

I got the headers for my year with smog. I ended up taking the EGR and AIR systems off my car but putting blockoff plates over the EGR/AIR parts on the headers so its fine now.

If I were you, I'd get the smog headers for your car(the same year as your car). If you end up eliminating the EGR or AIR systems, you can just add blockoff plates, it takes a few minutes for each.

1200-1500 pait is like 8.00 at autozone. do you have an open area to do it at and a steady hand? if yes to both questions, then you can do it.
