Transmission Fluid on Engine

Hi, my first post here and a question....

I have a 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager with a 3.3 L engine and overdrive transmission. It has 98000 miles on it and has had regular tranny flushes. Most places I have talked to think this problem is odd. Sometimes when I come off the highway after driving for a half hour or so, some smoke will be coming out from under the hood. When I park it it leaves a small puddle of tranny fluid on the cement. From the best that I can gather by looking under the hood the tranny fluid is coming from the fill tube which is damp with fluid(dipstick tube?) and flowing onto the crossover after the manifold. The tranny shifts fine this whole time. I pull the dipstick and the fluid feels warm but not uncomfortably hot. The fluid is still nice and pink and doesn't smell "roached" so I don't think it is boiling over. Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

Re: Transmission Fluid on Engine

Change the little O-ring on the dipstick and the one on the fill tube (if it has one) and seal it with permatex hardening gasket sealer, not silicone.

It's not likely that the trans is blowing the stick or tube out.

Make sure the trans is not overfilled.

only EVER use ATF+3 in that trans.

How about a partially blocked vent? At least that is what I found?

Re: Transmission Fluid on Engine

Detritus,

Where are the transmission vents.

Slantsixness,

Are you talking about an o-ring at the top of the dipstick?
