Question 99 Gr Caravan Transmission Problem

OK. I know that the trans. in these vehicles are notorious for problems.

With that said, what do you folks think about this....

Our 1999 Grand Caravan Sport (with the 3.8L V6) started doing this strange transmission "thing." WHen first starting the vehicle, I have to rev the engine up to about 3000RPM before it will go into gear. This happens in drive and reverse. Once up to speed, it seems fine, even when passing on the highway, etc, but then, drop down to slow speeds, especially at a stop sign, and it sometimes happens even after driving 20 minutes (warmed up).

Note: This seems better on warmer days, and worse on cold days, but still happens every day.

Re: 99 Gr Caravan Transmission Problem

when was the last time you changed the fluid?

You could try duralube transmission additive that could unstick your situation.

Good point, it is due for a fluid change. The fluid is still pinkish and at the right level, but a $75 fluid flush wouldn't hurt...
