5.0 mustang crate engines
I was just wondering what size crate engines fit in (by fit iin I mean directly bolt up to) the 5.0 mustangs(years 86-93) and what is their horsepower rating, and price if you know it?

Well the only direct bolt in is a 5.0L. A 351W will bolt in motor mount and tranny wise but you'll need all the accessories, etc, etc to make it work.

For stock, the cleveland is higher powered... 351w was a truck motor, the cleveland came in Mustangs including the Mach 1, and the Cleveland's heads fed the legendary Boss 302. With headers, cam, intake, carb, and new gear in the heads, 450hp is easily attainable. I know one guy who ran a cleveland with home ported stock heads, stock crank(even stock main bolts..) and prepped(shotpeened and polished) stock rods, stock block 1/2 filled with Hard Blok, cam/intake/headers in a 2845# wet '69 fastback that went 6.18 @ 110 in the 8th, which should give around a 9.8 1/4 mile time. The car was set up for 1/4 mile racing. If you want, I can send you the whole story on the build.
Clevelands were made for racing... Ford verifies that the Cleveland series (and direct derivatives) has won more championships than any other Ford engine type. However, the 351w has a whole lot more aftermarket than the cleveland, so it might be cheaper to build a windsor from a catalog.. But if you know what you're doing with a Cleveland(like KidV(who built the 6.18 1/8th mile engine) did) then you can make a whole lot of power for not a lot of $$, which is always welcome!
