Talking Time For 2900 mile Road Trip on a GSX (need advice!)

So I think I found the GSX I was looking for. Except that actually I still have yet to ask him why the hell he put on a Greddy Type-R BOV, he's only got a big 16g w/550's, etc. But anyways what I plan to do is fly cross country and drive the vehicle back.

Never having drove a turbo car for more than 15 minutes, thought I'd ask for some advice. Well not only that, but I've never driven myself longer than 3 hours on a trip.

Basically this is my plan, LMK what you guys think or what you'd add or change...

bring w/ me a blanket (sleeping in car heh)
power bars w/ water
wallet
toothbrush lol you get the idea

after a place inspects the car, plan to turn down the boost to like 9psi and just take it easy on the throttle (that will be the hardest part of the trip) will try to get 25mph (think that possible) for the trip so I don't spend a crap load on fuel

anyway when I arrive, probably should get an oil change (he said just had one done 2 weeks ago, car in garage since then)

So anyway thats it I guess, but I'm just kinda worried about driving 15 hours a day and hope I can find a decent place to park for the night (speaking of which wheres a ideal place w/o bums etc lol).

turn down the brightness on the guages believe it or not having them set too bright make you tired faster. i dont know a whole lot about turbos but it seems to me that it would be better to leave the settings the way it is unless you want to be screwing with it on the way back. make sure the bov is recirculating it makes a diff in your mpg. also check your tire pressure and add fuel system cleaner to your gas

you know with the price of gas and airline tickets have u even looked into a car transporter service? as for places to sleep id suggest well light places like walmart parking lots(what town doenst have one) or even rest stops with secuirty, hotels are bad ideas, atleast here in FL ..thieves target them) oh and eat better food than power bars and ull be able to drive a little longer and safer. remember treat your body like that dsm...it will work better

Re: Time For 2900 mile Road Trip on a GSX (need advice!)

yea best spot to spot is a store thats open 24 hrs
my dad has a rental car lot so weve got prices for auto transports. towing companies charge about $5 mile. auto transports that advertise long distance stuff are cheaper i dont know per mile but from orlando florida to lancaster pa they quoted about 1200-1600 but be ready to haggle cuz they'll always drop they're price

have fun with that trip... also just to let you know you most likly wont be able to turn the boost down to 9psi if the wastegate spring is as strong as stock... stock = 15psi and dont worry about turning it down! you will get probably the same gas milage cause its mainly highway so it will be cruise speeds not constant acceleration! good luck!

Yeah shipping carriers want $1050 for it and I wanted to use an Escrow service as well. Well the guy put a good price on it and he knows it so he shouldn't have problames selling it locally, so he didn't want to do the escrow thing cause you know they delay your payment and going through the hassle. I can see what he's saying but then in my case I was like no way am I sending money to someone first for this amount and hope to receive a title and car, lol. Anyway I decided to go and pick it up, if I play my cards right, I should be able to do this for under $500 (airplane ticket is freaking cheap hehe) bucks vs. $1200+ if I have it shipped (even if I could in this case).

Basically out here in Oregon these kind of cars cost an arm and a leg. This one I'm getting would run roughly $15,000 vs. the $8200 we settled on. And this is assuming I can even find one like this. What I like about this GSX is it's extremely clean, fairly low milage, claims to have it professionally tuned and drives perfect (not to mention the thouands in extras hehe).

But yeah it would be cool if I could find a 24 hour store and just park by it. Once late at night when I was parked on the side of the road the cops came by and asked if I was alright. Is is illegal by any chance in some states to park somewhere over night?

Oh and cars right by New York city, I'm coming from Portland, Oregon. Basically two main highways I gotta take, doesn't look too diffcult as long as I can stay awake.
