tapping sound rfom engin
The tapping sound started about a week a ago and it got a little worse. It sound as though it is only coming from cylinder 4, but today it was just shutting off on me at idle. I clicked out the codes and it said 43 43 twice. I looked in my book and it said miss firing on 1 or more cyliders. My friend whos a diesel mechanic said it sounded like i crushed a valve spring. If it is do I have to remove the head to replave the valve spring.

found a fix
I think the problem is the rocker bar is bad bc when i was looking in the rapair manual it said that, it would cause a ticking or chattering sound from the valves. I'm going to price it out to find out how much i'm going to be in the hole.

your neons have hydraulic lash adjusters like my old school 2.2L. Over time they wear out and don't hold pressure anymore. So you end up with a bunch of slop in the valvetrain. Pull the valve cover and the rocker bars, and carefully remove the lash adjusters. If you can compress them with your fingers they're definitely bad. I'm sure there's a spec for them, I just don't know of it. If they're still really stiff (can't compress it with you're fingers at all) they're probably OK. You'll know it if you've got a bad one!
