My Tahoe has a crazy problem of not starting. I thought it was bad gas, maybe a fuel pump, now maybe a bad gauge? When I have it towed to a service tech station it always starts and the problem can't be duplicated. Recently I went from Jacksonville FL to Raleigh Durham in a 7 hour period. The guage indicated a quarter of a tank when I reached my destination. After checking into my hotel, I attempted to start the truck. It sounded as if there was no gas? I had it towed the following morning to a local Chevy dealer where they found nothing wrong. Any ideas?? Bad Fuel pump? Looking for help???
This is the 3rd time this has happened. The only time that the problem could be duplicated, they felt it was bad gas that clogged the filter. With a filter change the truck worked well for about 3 weeks. |

Re: Engine won't start for me, but starts for service techs
Do you press the gas pedal when starting? Do you turn the key to the on position and wait 2 seconds before cranking the engine over? Are you saying it starts fine after setting 6 hours but not after setting 15 minutes?

Passlock failure
I have been having the similar problem for the past year. When it rains out or is really humid my Tahoe will start and immediatly quit. The security light remains lit. I had it in to the dealer and they told me it was probably a problem with the passlock sensor on the vehical even though it would never quit for them when it was there. It would have cost me about $800 to have fixed and they wouldn't garantee that it would solve the problem. Still havn't fixed it yet.

Re: Passlock failure
I had the same problem with my 2001 tahoe. I had the fuel regulator replaced and haven't had the problem again.

Re: Engine won't start for me, but starts for service techs
Same problem here. I just experienced it for the first time on Saturday. It was a hot day, and I tried to start the car immediately after a thunderstorm. The car cranked and cranked, but would not start.
When I came back on Monday morning, the car started as if nothing was wrong. |
