97RS starting prob.
hey guys
my girlfriends 97 3.8L has a hard time startin' when the engine is cold.. It has to turn over 6 or 7 times before it'l fire up... But if the engine is hot, it'l start right up.. Anyone come across this problem before? any ideas as to where to start?

umm, maybe the battery is goin bad, or something in the electrical system

Hi,
I have a 96 with the 3.8. I had a similar isuue. It took several tank fulls of fuel injector cleaner, but now starts right up when cold or hot. i now add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner every time I fill up. Might be worth a try. Take care, Mark

had the same problem w/ my 89 fire chicken. changed the battery, cleaned the terminals, and it works great. good luck w/ that

could be any number of things. check the spark plugs and wires, check your battery amps (cold and hot), and maybe try an induction service.

Anyways, thanks for the info guys! Ive got er' booked for a fuel system service.. I'll check the battery.. I know its weak... I didnt know it'd cause that though

yeah weak batteries will have enough power to crank, but may not build up enough voltage in the coil to fire the cylenders.

Now she's all pumped to go shopping for a new battery...
women.. She got right pissed off last night at the guy at PartSource.. SHe wanted a K&N intake for her car and he was bein a smartass about it.. He's like.. why waste your time? Then when he couldnt find it he's like.. they dont make one for the 3.8 theyre not worth it She got mad so I had ta tear into him.. shut him up quick

At first I was being civil about it.. I told him he should show a little proffesional courtesy..But the more I talked the angrier I got.. Finally I was like.. Fuck man.. What do you drive??
